Job Description

Overall responsibility for all categories assortment buying for Japanese boutiques and E-Commerce, analyzing and monitoring sales and trends, optimizing sell-out. Accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels and monitor performance. Works closely with the Merchandising team department in Paris.

Missions:

1- Open-To-Buy and merchandising assortment
- Define the budget for the yearly and seasonal OTB, structure and prepare merchandise buying plan for each category/store based on the store volume and display capacity
- Attend Paris market (4times a year), do the buy for retail boutiques, in-house E-shop and Japan on-line market players.
- Coordinate the purchases with the Communication, Marketing and Advertising plan globally and specifically for Japan
- Set-up Japan retail price strategy, adjust for some category/items beyond automatic calculation decided by Finance department
- Assist wholesale accounts during buying session
- Organize the assortment for new store openings through transfers and additional orders

2- Sell-thru monitoring and optimization
- Analyse the sales performance by category/per POS and share qualitative feedback
- Do the product allocation for Japan retail
- Manage the day-to-day boutiques merchandise needs through frequent presence and contact, analysis and stock movements
- Analyse weekly/monthly/seasonal reporting to optimize sell-thru
- Analyze and monitor sales by boutique, category and SKU on a weekly basis and react with reorders/transfers as necessary
- Analyze every aspect of bestsellers ensuring that bestsellers reach their full potential
- Monitor slow sellers and identify actions together with the retail team to set promotions or create incentive as necessary
- Closely working with logistics, update the stores on the delivery status of the collection and inform them on any issue that may arise
- Spend time in the boutiques to gather information on customers ‘reactions to products
3- Liaison with other departments to optimize performance
- Train Japan teams about the new collections (inspirations, composition, colors, price positioning) to ensure that everyone understands the collection structure and has the necessary product knowledge to be able to communicate on the product’s features
- Collaborate in the development/roll-out of specific product training and participate in training workshops
- Liaise with the Visual Merchandiser to support local implementation of the VM guidelines in stores and optimize performance
- Work closely with the country manager and marketing team to coordinate all activities aimed at promoting the collection and special collaboration capsules

4- Market and trend analysis, product feedback
- Analyze competitor’s strategy in terms of assortment, price positioning, communication and distribution in the region
- Liaise and share with HQ Merchandising team department product feedback to initiate and support the development of specific product needs for local market.

Job Requirements

- Minimum 10 years of retail merchandising experience in Japan - Excellent communication and organization skills - Proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships up/down/peers - Strong understanding of branding - Japanese and English fluent proficiency (French proficiency as a plus) - Ability to travel domestically to visit boutiques + Paris for the collections buying market
